Dad moved into a nursing home
"The hardest thing is when we leave to go home and he doesn’t understand why he can’t come too. I hate that."
My Dad moved into a nursing home earlier this year, even though he’s only 45 he has to stay at a home for older people because he has dementia and there’s nowhere else he can go. It’s really hard seeing him there, but I still visit lots with my mum and sisters. He had been in hospital for ages before that because things were really hard and we couldn’t look after him at home anymore. The hardest thing is when we leave to go home and he doesn’t understand why he can’t come too. I hate that. The nurses will usually distract him so that he doesn’t notice as much and we leave quickly.
